Although we are all aware of the fact that soda does contain a lot of calories and sugar, most of us forget to count the calories when we just have a little drink, or a sip here and there. You might be surprised to know how much those empty calories amount to at the end of the day.
Before I started drinking water and diet soda, I would have a glass of soda with lunch and at least one with dinner. Then there were the times in between those meals when I would get thirsty, and even sometimes get up during the night for a drink. All told I probably consumed at least six or more glasses per day. At about 100 calories each that comes to a minimum of at least six hundred calories a day. That is about half of what I should be taking in every day.
It's far better to replace that soda with water. If you crave the bubbles and flavor, use that as a treat once or twice a day and make it a diet soda. I hated the diets before. They were terrible tasting, but now with Splenda, the diet sodas are much better. My favorite is diet Sierra Mist and diet A&W Root Beer. There are many more diets that are just as good, you just need to get used to going without all that extra sugar.
