alt can help your body retain too much water. Salt can make you feel hungry. Salt can give you high blood pressure.
Your body does need sodium, and for most people there is enough sodium in the foods we eat for our bodies. Here we are simply talking about adding table salt.
I know how hard it is to give up table salt. There are certain foods that scream for it to enhance their flavor. Things like potatoes, squash, and for me oranges, need salt.

I have tried salt substitutes and to me they are unacceptable. I tried eating mashed potatoes without salt and they are barely eatable. Then I learned two important things. The first is after you've gone without salt for a couple days, you begin not to miss it so much. I know it's hard to believe but it's true!
The second thing I learned was if you add a little hotness to the food, or a salsa, you don't even notice the lack of salt. Just make sure you read the labels on the salsas, so you are picking a lower sodium brand. Add some hot peppers or hot sauce to the food and you'll find saying goodbye to table salt is easy! Remember to always check with your doctor before making a drastic change in diet. If you are the picture of health and you do use a lot of table salt, maybe you shouldn't be cutting it out.
