I have heard and believe that our minds do not hear negative words. For instance, if I tell you not to picture an elephant, before you can think of something else, the elephant image is already in your head.
In light of this information I would like to suggest that instead of saying, don't overeat, say eat a small portion, or instead of don't eat cake, say eat an apple. This is just another little trick you might want to try to help your diet.
