The First Step

They say the first step is admitting that you have a problem. I know I'm overweight, yes I'm obese, but looking out from my eyes I don't feel overweight. I look in the mirror and see a fat person, yet inside I feel like a thin person. I think that means I haven't taken seriously the fact that I've got a lot of me to lose.

We need to come to terms inside with who we've become as overweight people, not as the thin lean people we might have been. Maybe then we can honestly admit our weight problem and really get down to business and lose those extra pounds.

I can't identify with those who have been fat all their lives because I wasn't and I don't know how it feels to grow up that way. I was thin till I graduated high school and gained a few pounds. It wan't untill I got pregnant with my first child that I began gaining the weight. So maybe, somehow, I have to start from that point.

The ending point for all of us is the same though, we are fat and if we want to live a long healthy life we need to lose more than our shadows.
