They say the first step is admitting that you have a problem. I know I'm overweight, yes I'm obese, but looking out from my eyes I don't feel overweight. I look in the mirror and see a fat person, yet inside I feel like a thin person. I think that means I haven't taken seriously the fact that I've got a lot of me to lose.
We need to come to terms inside with who we've become as overweight people, not as the thin lean people we might have been. Maybe then we can honestly admit our weight problem and really get down to business and lose those extra pounds.
I can't identify with those who have been fat all their lives because I wasn't and I don't know how it feels to grow up that way. I was thin till I graduated high school and gained a few pounds. It wan't untill I got pregnant with my first child that I began gaining the weight. So maybe, somehow, I have to start from that point.
The ending point for all of us is the same though, we are fat and if we want to live a long healthy life we need to lose more than our shadows.

New Report On Overweight Elderly
We've been hearing a lot these past few years about how being overweight and/or obese affects our health. This new study they did now says if you're over 70 it doesn't matter much about being overweight and your other health conditions.
I don't think this means you can gain a ton of weight after you turn 70, but I do think it puts it into perspective about the relationship between developing new illnesses because of weight gain after that age. I don't like to think they are saying to go ahead and get fat cause you're gonna die soon anyway, but it kinda sounds that way, doesn't it?

Kids and Obesity
If you can't decide if someone is overweight or not, I wouldn't worry about them too much. If someone looks overweight, fat, or obese then they probably are and need to loose some pounds. I don't think we need a Federal Task Force in on it. Life is not complicated and neither is knowing you're obese or not. The diet is not hard to master either, eat less and move more. Now don't go running to the Feds with this secret or who knows what they'll come up with to do tomarrow.

Training For The New Daily Diet
I just got my shipment of groceries and although I did order some goodies, I was also mindful of ordering healthier foods. For instance I got ham and chicken lunch meats, but they are low sodium. I tried to stick to lean poultry and low-fat dairy. I'm very fond of those frozen vegetables that you cook in the microwave called steamers, they are very tasty and good quality. Special K cereal had a sale of 4 boxes for ten bucks, so I got 4 different flavors and some skim milk. I had the chocolate one this morning and it was great. I sliced up half a meduim banana into it and followed it with half an english muffin. It tasted really good, filled me up also because I ate slower and is definately something I could do every morning. I am however going to alternate this breakfast with one of oatmeal, and one of eggs. Just remember, portion control, and slower eating.

Time To Come Clean
I've also been overeating and of course gaining weight. I pigged out over the recent holidays and am ready to start eating smart again.
I'm not going to go on a certain diet but rather a calorie counting, or exchange, and portion control diet. One that won't change once I've lost the weight. I should be getting my meds in a couple of weeks so that's when I'll really start to see results. I'll keep you posted!
